Sing Out! was a superb opportunity to enjoy choral singing and participate in practical, inspiring workshops conducted by leading singers and conductors, and experience the thrill of performing in a first-class concert venue. The programme of workshops and rehearsals on Saturday 12 March was followed on Sunday by a dress rehearsal, and then a public concert in Wellington's magnificent Town Hall.
The event was hosted by The Homophones, Wellington Gay Men's Chorus, and featured the participation of GALS, Auckland's Gay and Lesbian Singers.
Sing Out! was open to all who wish to participate, whether or not you were a member of an existing choir. It was a participatory community event, not a competition. Sunday's concert featured brackets from the Homophones, GALS, and a massed choir of all workshop participants.
Saturday's programme ran from 9.30am to 5pm and was followed by the Outgames Opening Ceremony. On Sunday, the concert started at 12.30.
Registration for Sing Out! covered attendance and tuition at the workshops, morning and afternoon tea and lunch on Saturday, the Outgames Opening Ceremony, Sunday's dress rehearsal and performance, preferential ticketing for selected other Outgames events, and participation in the Outgames social programme.

The Sing Out! Concert was the culmination of the exciting gay and lesbian choral workshop hosted by The Homophones, Wellington's Gay Men's Chorus, and features our special guests, Auckland's Gay and Lesbian Singers, as well as a massed choir formed by all the workshop participants. The programme included traditional and contemporary music.
This one-off performance, in Wellington's magnificent Town Hall, was a fantastic opportunity to experience the joy and power of music-making as a celebration of community and our LGBTI identity.
