Hi and Kia ora!
Welcome to the August newsletter of the 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames.
First up, congratulations to all the participants at the recent Cologne Gay Games. Well done on all the personal bests, the Games records, and being part of it.
Triathlon confirmed
We are delighted to confirm that triathlon will be the 17th competitive sport at the next AsiaPacific Outgames. The location is a popular and proven harbourside route in the city and there are several options for participation. Triathlon will be held on Saturday March 12, letting triathletes relax and enjoy all the other Outgames attractions after their event. Registration for triathlon will be open on our website within the next 10 days. If you are keen, don't leave it too late - this event will fill up quickly.
We are still working to add football (soccer) to the programme. We'll announce this on our website once it is confirmed.
Team sports
The registration system for teams is slightly different to that for individual competition - we suggest that you check out the step-by-step instructions for teams on our website and in the registration system when you're signing up.
Accommodation
March is a busy time for Wellington, but we've managed to secure some great hotels deals for Outgames participants. The Ibis hotel, for example, is located in the heart of the city, an easy walk to the Opening Ceremony, the parties, the conference, and of course shopping and dining. You can even connect your media player or digital camera to the new flat screen LCD TV in your room. A room for 2 costs less than NZ$70 +GST per person per night. To get the discount, see the accommodation details on our website.
Wellington fundraisers
Quiz nights at S&M bar, 176 Cuba St, Wellington, guarantee prizes, great company and laughter every Thursday at 7pm. It costs just $5. Bring a team or join a team when you get there. All welcome.
