- One Year Out
Hi and Kia ora!
Welcome to the February 2010 newsletter of the 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames. We hope you've had a great start to the year.
Meet the Outgames crew
We've been thrilled to meet so many people at our stalls at Melbourne's Midsumma Fair, Wellington's Out in the Square event, Auckland's Big Gay Out and in a meeting at Perth's Loton Tennis Club. You can catch us in coming months at:
Mardi Gras Fair in Sydney, come check out our amazing stall!
(Victoria Park, City Road, Chippendale - a 10 minute walk from Central or Newtown station - 21 Feb from 10am)
4th ILGA (International Lesbian and Gay Association) Asia Conference, Outgames exec member Kevin Haunui will be representing the team.
(Surabaya, Indonesia, 26-28 March)
Brisbane Pride Festival Fair Day
(Musgrave Park, 12 June)
Other trips will be announced in coming months.
Sports
We've started adding more detail to our website sports pages. So far, you can read about the specific events and venues for swimming, running and tennis. The information about other sports will be available soon.
We're also adding links to the websites of rainbow sports clubs around NZ, Australia, Asia and the Pacific. If you'd like us to add a link to your club, let us know!
Arts and culture
The Outgames week will be packed with exciting events in addition to the sports competition, the conference and the parties. There will be some fantastic shows, an art trail of exhibitions by top level LGBTI artists, and exclusive day and evening trips just for Outgames participants and supporters.
The first day trip to be announced is The Outgames Garden Tour. This day of ravishing gardens and delicious wine starts with a relaxing train ride to the Wairarapa Valley. It's a perfect glimpse of rural New Zealand.
Newsletter subscriptions
We've recently implemented a new newsletter subscription system which allows you to tell us what you are interested in. This means that as the year goes on, you won't miss out on information most relevant to you. You can update your preferences, and even unsubscribe if you wish.
If you haven't subscribed to the new system, give it a go, and encourage your friends to do it! It's the best way to make sure you're the first to hear the news.
Best wishes!
