Venue |
Te Rauparaha Arena (TRA) in Porirua will be the venue for the volleyball competition.
TRA is a modern facility and is located in the bustling city of Porirua. Transport to Porirua is via car (approximately 25 minutes on SH1) or by train (20 minutes from Wellington Central Railway station). TRA has excellent cafes nearby and is also adjoined to the Pataka Museum of Arts and Cultures, which is well worth a visit. Check out the train timetable to and from Porirua on the Kapiti line. |

Competition |
There will be preliminary and final rounds in each grade. Participants may register in only one team and, therefore, only one grade. Each team must grade themselves according to their team level of play. The first two games of the competition will confirm their team grading. If for logistical reasons re-grading is required, the organisers reserve the right to move teams up or down a grade. This may also be required if there are insufficient teams in any particular grade. |
Referee |
Each team is expected to perform referee duties and is expected to supply a minimum of a 1st referee, scorer and 2 linespersons. The 1st referee must hold a New Zealand Reg AA standard/qualification or its overseas equivalent. Each team must provide their own whistles - although these may be provided at a cost on the day. We do not encourage sharing of whistles. A training/rules session will be held for all referees, linepersons and scoring officials for the standards of play in this tournament on Monday 14 March at the Arena at 8am. All persons selected by their team to be games officials at this tournament must attend this session. |
Rules |
The rules of Volleyball New Zealand will apply. Teams may have up to 12 players maximum. All games will be played to FIVB and VNZ regulations. Matters arising outside the official FIVB rules, VNZ regulations and these tournament procedures will be dealt with by the Tournament Director. Decision will be final. |
Sanctioning |
The volleyball competition will be sanctioned by Wellington Volleyball Association (WVA) and selected clubs. |
